Fever - Black Milk

Fever - Black Milk

Detroit emcee/producer Black Milk presented to the world Fever in early 2018, his thirteenth album in as many years. Whether it’s an instrumental project or an album where he raps, Black Milk has constant exhibited the ability to produce high quality music the gets better with each release. Fever is probably the most refined of any of his projects in terms of not only the direction of his sound but also his storytelling in the bars. Songs like “Foe Friend” and “Laugh Now Cry Later” construct journeys for the listener that make you sit with the characters and their challenges in relation to one’s own. The elements of hip-hop, soul, funk, and electronic music that derive from Detroit are all present and composed in a way that makes you have to search a little for each on every song but make the seeking worth when considered as a whole. There aren’t too many artists that care to put forth a truly coherent album front-to-back anymore (and still have it sound and feel stellar). Thankfully, Fever doesn’t fall into that camp.
