It was 1993 and hip-hop, well past its infancy, grabbed the keys to Mom and/or Dad's car in the middle of the night and went cruising, making up the map as it drove. Cheif among the cartographers of that era was A Tribe Called Quest, easily one of the most influential (if not the best) groups in hip-hop history. Midnight Marauders built on the foundation already laid by their earlier efforts, further solidifying their spot as true "Leaders of the New School." It's difficult to attain one "classic" song in a musical career. To get several on one album (after having already made classic material) is just unheard of in the music business. "Electric Relaxation," "Lyrics to Go," and "Oh My God" are just a few that help this album stand above almost every other hip-hop release around that time. There's so much more to say about this body of work but it really does speak for itself.
