It might be hard to imagine now but, back in the early 2000's, Rawkus Records had a sizable part of the hip-hop listenership, and dollars, on lock. The Soundboming series full of xyz-"backpack-rappers" seemed corny to some but essential to those who appreciated bars. Fast forward a bit, Hi-Tek and Talib Kweli linked up to become Reflection Eternal and produced one of the most solid releases from that Rawkus era. Train of Thought was expansive and a tome by today's standards. Still, every feature was meaningful and well-placed, every track told a story on its own, and the listener truly got to experience a journey through sound. Get your 2xLP copy below and rediscover this beloved album and how it has had the staying power of other classic hip-hop material.
